Beautiful Boy

I really haven't done much with my photography lately for whatever reason, but had a hankering to use our 50 mm lens today to take photos of Ella by the daffodils in our back yard.  Almost every year I have taken a pic of her by the daffodils.  Perhaps because these are the first to bloom each Spring and I get excited about the flowers.

After her photo shoot I went inside to a crying Miles who wanted to go outside.  When I told him no, he told me he wanted me to take his picture.  And how could I resist?  Here is my favorite of his shoot...

Daffodils Through Time

I don't know why I started this or what possessed me to do it every year, but it has become a tradition.  And when I saw the first daffodils blooming this morning, it reminded me it was time for this year's photo.

Ella was born in December 2003.

I’m a nerd two ways – and on the air!

I (Jason ) have been listening to the NPR radio show A Way With Words,  about words and language and how we use them.  I first heard them on Wisconsin Public Radio, and now download their show’s podcast onto my IPod.  I’m a word nerd, ever since Dan Hay, Clint Wenk, and I took Etymology class in high school with the best Etymology teacher.

They asked folks to call in about words you use in your job – and I called in about ‘ping’. (Nerd-way #2). Ping in the IT-world is an application that reaches out to other computers to determine if they are “there” and how long it takes to respond.  I’ve seen the word morph to refer to contacting people, “I’ll ping Bob on that and see what he thinks.”

They wanted to use me for an upcoming show!  I just recorded the piece today, and don’t know which show it will be on.  When I do – I’ll post again on the blog.
